As we all know by now, 2020 keeps challenging our everyday lives from Covid-19, CA wildfires, extreme weather, the loss of loved ones to the cancellation of events all around the world. 

One event wt hold dear to our heats, and one we sponsor with the Rockaway Ricky Memorial Fund, is the World Dog Surfing Championships. It is held the first Saturday of each August right here in Pacifica, CA at Linda Mar State Beach. 

The event has grown since it started back in 2016 with just 5 dogs competing and has grown to 50 competing hotdoggers; along with the hugest spectator crowds seen by locals and now receives worldwide coverage. 

The 2020 event has been postponed. But the event coordinators have come up with an alternative and now taking the event to the Internet waves and will stream it live from various locations. One can tune in Saturday, September 26 from 9AM to 12:30PM on the World Dog Surfing Championship's Facebook page or on their website at: www.surfdogchampionships.com

Along with the dog surfing competition, fun dog contests will be held that include: Best Wave dog surfing video, Dog Disc Fetch video, Dog Beach Fashion Photo and Best Dog Surfing Photo of the Year. So you see, this will be the most pawsome virtual event of the year! It will pawsitively make you laugh and sure to put a smile on your face. Please tune in with your social bubble and start some watch parties. 

The event itself benefits tow dog-related charities but with Rockaway Ricky's memorial fund as a Partner Sponsor, one can donate to help assist with the pet care needs of Pacifica seniors, the homeless and families in need. To date, the RRMF has raised over $10,000 to help assist with its mission. Watch for Ricky's upcoming 2021, "Dog Days of Pacifica" calendar this December featuring dogs of essential workers.

A Star Wars Pug Parade

Earlier, PawBuzz.com posted a fabulous report of a Star Wars Pug Parade as part of the 16th Annual Pug Crawl in Portland, Oregon on May 25th!  The full report of the event is here.  How cute!!

According to the Oregon Humane Society, which benefits from the event, the Pug Crawl was the most successful ever!

9th Annual Dog Fest

I just saw this information about DogFest tomorrow and it looks great!  Has anyone gone to it before?  I'd love
 to be able to go one year...

There's a silent auction, dog show, contests, and a raffle -- all to benefit the McKinley elementary school at Castro and 14 Streets in San Francisco.  What a great event to bring canines together!

Weekend Recap

Mama and I spent the weekend in Sonoma!  We decided to go to Pet Food Express to start the trip so I could get a new collar.  

We saw a sign outside that says the Bay Area Pet Fair is coming October 10 and 11!  Can't wait!  Go to bayareapetfair.org for more info.

Pescadero Barn Sale Dogs

We went with Mama's friends to the Pescadero Barn Sale event this past weekend, which is a collection of yard, garage, and estate sales in Pescadero!  We saw many adorable dogs along the way.  Lexi was the first Pescadero Barn Sale dog we met today.  She is a beautiful shepherd mix.

Kiwi is our second Pescadero barn sale dog, and is a chihuahua mix.

POOCHELLA: I Want to Go!

I've been asking Mama to take me to POOCHELLA: San Francisco’s own dog festival at Dolores Park!  I've never been to a dog festival, and the proceeds go right back into the community.  Whether you are a dog-owner or not, everyone is invited and admission is FREE.  Donations will be accepted, that go to local dog rescues.

The event promises a photo booth, awards, adoptions, music, food, gifts, and more.
