Adjusting to a new home can be a tense and frightening experience for a cat. Your patience and understanding during his initial adjustment period can do a lot to help your new cat feel at home.

The ride home
Riding in a car can be traumatic for cats. Your cat or kitten should be confined to a carrier during the ride home as well as during subsequent trips to the veterinarian. Do not let your new cat loose in a moving car or allow children to excite him. Do not leave the cat unattended in the car or stop to visit friends, shop, etc. Keep your cat in his carrier until you are safely inside your home.

How to Shampoo Your Dog or Cat without Water

I don't mind a bath, but I guess some other dogs and cats do.  Here are some dry shampoo recipes to try so you don't have to fight your pet in to the tub!

DRY SHAMPOO FOR DOGS
Dogs are known for getting into anything and everything, but a strong shake on their part just isn’t enough to get them adequately clean, so try this shampoo to make your pet dog-gone clean.

Materials:
3 tablespoons baking soda
3 tablespoons cornstarch
6 drops of a skin-safe fragrance oil
Bulk spice container

Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda, cornstarch, and fragrance oil, and pour mixture into the container. If your container’s lid does not already have holes in it, poke a few of your own holes.

I had a great Labor Day Weekend with Mama at at my extended family's home at Villa Escalona in El Granada.  My feline friends MaMa Too Too and Mango Too Too are happy to hang out together in a box provided by their mama Jeannene. Very happy Too Toos!

Kittens of the Week

This week's Pets of the Week are Tiny and Tina.

Humans Jean Headley Darmody & Daniel Darmody say, 

We got Tiny and Tina on Friday, June 5th, at the Peninsula Humane Society.  They are sisters, and were 12 weeks old when we got them.  Tina is white with a blond face and back and tail.  Tina is all blonde with a white chest.  They are very attached to each other and play and sleep together all the time.  We had been looking for 2 kittens for over a year since our beloved Prima died.  Munchkin (Prima's good friend and running buddy) was so lonesome.  So far, Munchkin is warming up to Tiny and Tina and we're sure they will all be playing together soon.  They have also brought a new level of energy to our household and keep us laughing at their antics.

Girlie is a recent rescue for Bryan and Jeannene Kingston.  As you can see, their existing cat Mango and Girlie have become fast friends and don't mind sharing a cozy blanket!
